In honor of Heart Health Month, Life Care Center of Valparaiso, Indiana, hosted a Healthy Heart event for the community.
Approximately 30 community members, mostly seniors, attended and enjoyed a catered breakfast of spinach and roasted tomato mini-quiche, turkey bacon, fresh fruit, yogurt parfaits and blueberry muffins.
After the meal, a nurse from the cardiac unit at Porter Regional Hospital spoke to the group about heart health and how sleep affects the heart.
Each attendee went home with a packet of information about heart health, along with a water bottle and stress ball. The facility also gave away a few door prizes.
“The attendees were very excited about the program and information given and loved the breakfast,” said Cathy Ellis, marketing director. “I think this was the best heart health event we’ve had so far.”
