Rehabilitation at Life Care Center of Valparaiso, Indiana, took on a creative touch on Nov. 2, 2017.
Amanda Blade, occupational therapist, set up a session for three rehab patients and a long-term care resident to paint together as part of their occupational therapy training. She provided canvases, watercolor paints and brushes as the residents painted sunsets over water. Patients got to work on their fine motor skills as they participated in the activity.
“Everyone enjoyed the group, and they were pleasantly surprised by how much they enjoyed it,” said Blade.
The patients displayed their paintings in their rooms and took them home when they completed their rehabilitation.
